You are cordially invited to join us at the upcoming 6th Annual Tools for Transformation Conference and Legislative Breakfast “Pathways to Equality”, taking place on Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th. The largest conference of its kind in Los Angeles, Tools for Transformation brings the country’s most renowned experts in medicine, law, education, and advocacy to provide families with cutting edge information and resources through a full day of classes and workshops.
In honor of Autism Awareness month and as a part of our ongoing efforts to help underserved families affected by autism and related developmental disabilities, we established this FREE annual event to provide families with resources, information, support, education, and more. The conference includes FREE give-aways of iPads for a select group of children.
Day 1 (Friday, April 13) – Legislative Breakfast & Advocates Summit
A discussion on critical issues related to health, education, and social justice. Meet prominent local and state elected officials and participate in a call-to-action to improve the health and wellness of children and families.
Distinguished guest panelists at this year’s breakfast include SEIU-ULTCW President Laphonza Butler, Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel, California State Assemblymember Holly J. Mitchell, California State Senator Curren D. Price, Jr., and California Endowment President and CEO Robert K. Ross, M.D. Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas will deliver the keynote speech, while ABC News Anchor Marc Brown will serve as the emcee. Live entertainment will be provided by the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
Following the breakfast we will be hosting an Advocates Summit, an exclusive leadership training program for experienced advocates, nonprofit directors, grassroots organizers, and other professionals involved with policy and legislative advocacy activities. Please contact us in the office if you wish to apply for this exclusive event. A VIP reception will follow with drinks, hors d’oeurvres, and live entertainment.
Day 2 (Saturday, April 14) – Tools for Transformation Conference
Activities include 12 workshops and seminars led by the country’s most renowned experts on accessing services, the latest medical and behavioral interventions, and jobs, book signings with special guest authors, plenary session, a networking luncheon, and an awards presentation for exemplary members of the community, including awards to outstanding students who have beat the odds to achieve success in their education and or career despite a disability.
There will also be a resource fair where families can connect with health service providers, disability rights attorneys, and other special needs professionals. Other activities include book signings with special guest authors, networking luncheon, awards presentations, and free give-aways and raffles including iPads.
